Construction has now begun on One Water Street this corner will feature the two tallest towers from Calgary to Metro Vancouver. The taller of the two will stand 36 storeys high and the smaller 29 storeys. The first tower is said to be completed by the fall of 2020 with the second one right on it’s heels and ready for occupancy about six months after.
North American Development Group or the NADG is working with Kerkhoff Construction on building the Kelowna towers. They will be designed by Kasian Architecture Interior Designing and Planning. They were designed specifically designed to reflect the climate and urban design Kaisian is looking for.
“Our aim, in creating One Water Street, was to enhance the sense of place in downtown Kelowna that connect Sunset Drive to the Cultural District,” Henry Bereznicki, managing partner at NADG, was quoted, “ This includes both private and public spaces such as street side cafes, while creating an iconic and visual symbol of the elevation and evolution of Kelowna’s downtown and its position as the urban centre of the Okanagan.”
“We are thrilled to create an iconic landmark that speaks to the Okanagan urban lifestyle,” Don Kaisan, president of Kasian Architecture was quoted, “We designed every detail of this project thinking about the people who will enjoy, use, and live here. The sculptural tower forms and silhouettes are the signature view for One Water Street, and will become a recognizable element of the Kelowna skyline.”
One Water Street will have 221 apartment units in the taller tower up for sale. Prices for these apartments will range from $300,000 all the way up to $2 million plus.
“City council is committed to encouraging urban centre development that is energized by a concentration of new residents and businesses,” said Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran in a statement.
“One Water Street is the latest and biggest project to address our objective to have more densely developed urban centres, whether that’s downtown or in any of our other urbanized neighbourhoods.”
