A new roller coaster inspired by the films “Guardians of the Galaxy” is now under construction and set to debut in Orlando Florida at Disney’s Epcot just in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021. This space themed attraction is on track to become one of the world’s longest enclosed roller coasters.

A new much bigger facility is being built adjacent to the existing Universe of Energy building at Disney World to house this goliath coaster. Over 900 trucks worth of concrete was poured to create the foundation for this incredible ride. An epic storyline is being developed along with the roller coaster itself to encapsulate the film into an experience for the whole family.

The new “Guardians of the Galaxy” themed roller coaster joins a number of other Marvel themed rides in Disney theme parks around the world. The Iron Man Experience in Hong Kong was the first of the superhero themed rides to come into the industry and is soon to be greeting with another new attraction, “Ant-Man and the Wasp” attraction.

For those eager people who can’t wait to have some “Guardians of the Galaxy” fun you can catch Starlord and Gamora, characters from the movie, as guests on a musical journey through the cosmos in “Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live!” at the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot. The show will be playing five times a day from June 9th through August 19th.

Disney World is working to transform Epcot into a place with more family attractions, more relevant attractions, and more timeless ones. “As we build upon its core mission of optimism and hope to inspire the world, the real will become fantastic and the fantastic will become real – in whole new ways at Epcot,” Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, Bob Chapek, said.
